The green areas in Chisinau remained without flowers this autumn. The Green Areas Association managed to buy only 2,000-3,000 chrysanthemums, but this is a very low number for the capital city. The flowers will be renewed only from the roots of the last year’s flowers. The Association’s head Eliferii Haruta has told Info-Prim Neo that the budgetary allocations for the enterprise this year are of about 3 million lei. This money is used to pay salaries to the employees and to cover other costs. Not much remains for planting and looking after flowers. In spring the Association bought 200,000 plants. Eliferii Haruta said that they will use last year roots of such flowers as carnations, yuccas, hyacinths, and irises. The workers hardly managed to save the flowers from this summer’s high temperatures. They watered and looked after the plants even at night.
