The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration reaffirmed the Moldovans authorities’ position about the necessity of resuming the process of withdrawing the Russian troops and of disposing of the munitions stored at the military depot in Cobasna. In this regard, it was confirmed Moldova’s readiness to interact on this issue, IPN reports, quoting a press release issued by the Ministry on the occasion of the Moldovan-Russian inter-ministerial political consultations, IPN reports.
Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Andrei Rudenko, the head of the Russian delegation, exchanged opinions on the Transnistrian settlement process, noting the common interest in resuming the talks in the 5+2 format.
Regional security was a separate subject of discussion. Nicu Popescu underlined the need of identifying political solutions based on dialogue and of avoiding any military actions and scenarios, by observing the basic norms and principles of the international law, based on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all the states of the region.
The Moldovan-Russian consultations took place in accordance with the previous agreements and represented an ordinary round. The interlocutors confirmed the sides’ readiness to continuously strengthen the dialogue at different levels so as to cooperate in areas of mutual interest. In this connection, it was stressed the importance of combining forces for making progress in the bilateral files, primarily the unfinished ones, runs the press release.
The head of the Moldovans delegation, secretary of state Ruslan Bolbocean underscored the importance of agreeing on the social protection of Moldovans in Russia. He reiterated the Moldovan side’s willingness to sign the Interstate Agreement on Social Security.
