Chisinau reiterates availability to resume „5+2” negotiations
The minister of foreign affairs and European Integration, Andrei Stratan restated the availability of Chisinau to resume the “5+2” negotiations, the democratization and demilitarization of the Transnistrian region, as important elements of the process, declared the Moldovan minister within the consultations upon the issue of security policies, consultations that took place between the Moldovan Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and the Lithuanian Foreign Minister.
Both delegations emphasized the necessity of transforming the present peace-keeping mechanism into an international peace-keeping mission with international mandate. As well the sides referred to the withdrawal of the Russian troops out of the territory of the Republic of Moldova, according to the engagements taken by the Russian Federation at the OSCE Summit in Istanbul.
At the same time, the representatives of the Moldovan and Lithuanian Foreign Affairs Ministers appreciated the activity of the EU border assistance mission, and the important role of the authorities from Kiev in the control process of the border.
Within the consultations, the sides tackled as well legal aspects of the Moldova-EU and Moldova-NATO cooperation, particularly the implementation stage of the Individual Partnership Action Plan.
