Chisinau plots put up for auction would not be sold by this yearend, Capital-Imobil representative says

The plots of land that the Chisinau administration wants to exhibit for sale in order to repay the debts to Termocom would not be sold until the end of this year, said Eduard Gorinstein, the technical director of Capital-Imobil company, which was chosen to hold auctions to sell the plots owned by the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC). At Tuesday’s joint meeting of the commission for organizing and holding land auctions and contests in the municipality of Chisinau and of the 2009 budget priorities commission, Gorinstein said that it is impossible to sell so many plots in such a short period of time because the auctions will be held 20 days after CMC approves the list of plots. Asked by Info-Prim Neo, the vice president of the 2009 budget priorities commission and PPCD leader in CMC, Alexandru Corduneanu, said that this is not a reason for panic because other solutions would be found if there is no money to pay Termocom for its services. The meeting decided that 22 plots that occupy an area of 12 hectares will be put up for sale at the first round of the auction. The municipal authorities plan to obtain 150-200 million lei from land sales. Initially, the list contained plots that were about 40 hectares in area, but it was later reduced. “We must sell small plots at high prices,” said the president of the two commissions, Eduard Musuc. According to the chief architect of the Chisinau municipality, Vlad Modarca, most of the plots that will be exhibited for sale have been prepared for this during many years. Therefore, the accusations that certain goals are pursued are groundless. The list of plots for sale will be submitted to CMC for approval at its November 20 meeting. Under a memorandum signed with SA Moldovagaz and SA Termocom, the Chisinau administration is to pay the debts of about 200 million lei to Termocom that represent the overdue compensations and those that will be paid to the population until this yearend. Given that no resources are available in the budget for such a purpose, the municipal authorities decided to sell plots owned by the Chisinau administration. The Opposition parties alleged that the plots are sold to get certain advantages.
