The Medico-Social Philanthropic Foundation “Angelus Moldova” is organizing for the first time a Charity Ball titled “Angelus”to help the people suffering from cancer. The event will take place in Chisinau on October 8. “Before the International Palliative Care Day, which is marked on October 10, we though to organize a charity ball so as to make the people aware of the palliative care problems faced by the persons suffering from incurable diseases and to collect funds to support the “Angelus” hospice. “The hospice provides free services to the persons dying of cancer,” Victoria Condrat, department head at the Foundation, has told Info-Prim Neo. An auction to sell objects donated by the invitees will be held as part of the ball. “We have several lots donated by famous persons like the former president of Moldova Petru Lucinschi, and hope that other political leaders will also come. Some of them promised they will come to the ball and donate personal effects. They will be auctioned and the money obtained will be donated to the “Angelus” hospice to ensure the continuity of the free palliative care services provided for persons suffering from cancer,” Victoria Condrat said. Princess Marina Sturdza, who does philanthropic work, is the invitee of honor. She now lives in the UK. The Charity Ball will include a concert by Moldovan artists. “We expect to the ball such masters as Eugen Doga, Mihai Munteanu and Glebus Sainciuc as well as pop music artists. It will be a great event,” Victoria Condrat said. The entry fee is 50 euros per person. All the participants are expected to wear evening dresses and suits. The Medico-Social Philanthropic Foundation “Angelus Moldova” is a nongovernmental, apolitical and nonprofit organization founded in July 2000. In November 2001, the foundation opened the “Angelus” hospice, which provides free medico-social assistance at home to persons who have terminal cancer, including children.
