The Chisinau administration calls on the inhabitants to collect the leafage separately from household waste. “It’s time to delimit the categories of waste and to collect them separately, as in Europe,” Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca said in the November 4 meeting of officials of the municipal services.
The mayor ordered that the municipal services distribute information and photos of how the leafage is gathered separately from other garbage through social networking sites.
Public Amenities Division head Petru Gontea said the apartment building managers must supervise the waste collection process. More than 330 truckloads of leaves were collected in Chisinau last week.
Eliferii Haruţa, head of the Green Areas Association, said that by a leaf sucking machine has been used in every district of Chisinau during the last two weeks. Such a machine can store the same volume of leaves as 2-3 trucks.
