The apartments damaged by heavy rains on August 9, located on 5/6 Braniștei Street in Râșcani sector, will be repaired within two months, announced Mayor Ion Ceban at the City Hall’s ordinary meeting on Monday. The residents with no place stay during the repairs will be accommodated at the Patria placement center.
Fifteen homes and a children’s center will be repaired in total.
Social matters and health care chief Boris Gîlca said room has already been made at the Patria placement center to accommodate any new beneficiaries. Also, the municipality is considering distributing basic necessity goods to those affected.
The sectors of Râșcani and Ciocana were the worst hit by the August 9 storm. Râşcani sector Vlad Melnic said homes, businesses and public spaces were affected at 225 addresses in total, including three medical institutions, ten educational institutions, and six squares and parks. Ciocana sector head Sinilga Școlnic said efforts are under way to unblock access roads in a number of courtyards. “We have a lot of complaints from the residents where roofing was damaged”, she added.
The municipality plans to initially allocate 2.5 million lei from its rainy-day fund in response to the August 9 storm.
