The local authorities of Chisinau this year will purchase five more trucks for transporting leaves. Currently, the specialized services have 40 trailer trucks and 35 trailers, the head of the Cleanup and Territorial Development Section of the Public Amenities Division Vasile Efros has told IPN.

Immediately after the leaves are gathered together, they will be taken to Pruncul. If a part of the leaves are left for the next day, those who will throw waste over the pile of leaves will be penalized, stated Vasile Efros.

“The throwing of any litter in public places, including on piles of leaves, means violation of the cleanup regulations. Under the Contravention Code, the fine for private individuals is of up to 1,800 lei.”

The collection of leaves usually starts after the first frost. Forty trucks will be engaged in the process of transporting leaves. If the Public Amenities Division does not cope with the volume of leaves, the municipal company “Autosalubritate” will lend a hand.
