The Chisinau City Hall is testing battery-operated trolleybuses. Head of the Public Relations Division Vadim Branzaniuc has told IPN that the routes on which these will run haven’t been yet agreed as a number of options are being considered.
During the tests, the battery-powered trolleybuses will cover a distance of up to 1,000 km. On June 14, the trolleybuses will run up to the airport, without passengers for now.
“We are examining several itineraries, where there are no power lines. The battery-powered trolleybuses will be tested on the streets to the airport, to the National Clinical Hospital and to Stauceni. A decision hasn’t been taken yet,” stated Vadim Branzaniuc.
The battery-operated trolleybuses can cover up to 50 km. These are three times more economical than the diesel fuel-powered buses.
