The Chisinau City Hall initiated inspections through the city to check how the rules of keeping animals without owners are obeyed. Working groups will be created at the district head’s offices to inspect the parking lots, buildings sites, markets, storehouses, yards of apartment buildings, parks and green areas in the city, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Chisinau City Hall, the inspection groups will include representatives of the local public administration, the Police Inspectorate and the cleanup company “Autosalubritate”. The managers of the given areas were informed about the inspections and were asked to catch the stray animals that found refuge on those areas and to transmit them to the local authorities. If they refuse to hand the stray dogs over, the dogs will be caught by “Autosalubritate”.
Contacted by IPN, “Autosalubritate” head Tudor Maniv said a part of the caught dogs will be taken to the municipal shelter for animals that has a capacity of 20-30 places. The others will be taken by animal protection organizations and will be neutered.
The rules of keeping animals without owners in the municipality of Chisinau were approved by the Municipal Council on June 12, 2001.
