In Chisinau, walking with pet animals will be allowed if the owners have a brush, a dustpan, a bag and gloves for cleaning the place and collecting the waste mater. This is provided in relevant regulations worked out by the municipality, which were proposed for public debates, IPN reports.
For now the document does not stipulate punishments for the violation of its provisions. Under the regulations, the stray dogs will be caught and taken to a special shelter. The pictures of caught animals will be posted on the shelter’s website in 72 hours, in a move to identity these, in case a pet gets lost.
The unclaimed dogs from shelters will be sterilized in seven days. The euthanizing of stray dogs from shelters will be possible only if these are diagnosed with incurable diseases. The animals younger than six months will be put up for adoption only after they are immunized, deparasitized and included in the Register of Pet Animals.
The costs associated with deparasitization, treatment, anti-rabies vaccination, sterilization and identification of stray animals from shelters will be covered with money from the budget of Chisinau municipality. The Chisinau City Hall will allocate funds for purchasing and running a mobile clinic for sterilizing dogs with and without an owner.
The owners of private homes will be able to keep up to four pets – two dogs and two cats. The keeping of pets in apartments will be possible with the written and stamped consent of the association of dweller, adopted by a majority of votes of dwellers living in the neighboring apartments.
