The authorities of Chisinau municipality plan to buy 20 buses for the Chisinau Urban Bus Company. A sum of 30 million lei will be allocated from the municipal budget for the purpose, IPN reports.

In the February 7 meeting, the Chisinau Municipal Council approved the specifications, but is to return to the decision in order to detail technical and ecological aspects. A tender contest will be later announced to purchase the buses.

“To ensure transparency and the good implementation of the project, there was set up a commission that consists of a number of local councilors,” said Vitalie Butucel, acting head of the General Public Transport and Communications Division.

The Chisinau Urban Bus Company has 135 buses that are used to transport passengers. Of these, 80% are worn-out.
