Chisinau municipality announces work program of cemeteries on Sunday of the Dead

The Chisinau City Hall said the access of private units of transport to the territory of cemeteries in the capital city will be banned on June 5-9 in connection with cleanup and laying out works and with the celebration of the Sunday of the Dead on June 7-8.

In a press release, the municipality said the cemeteries could be entered between 8am and 5pm by observing the protection measures, such as hand hygiene, wearing of protective masks and maintaining of social distancing.

The visitors on June 7 and 8 will have access to the Central Cemetery located on Armenească St only through the main gate, while to Saint Lazarus Cemetery through the access points situated on Doina St, where police officers will organize and monitor the flow.

The drinking of alcoholic beverages and eating of food on the territory of cemeteries is banned. Street trading near cemeteries is also not allowed. The existing trading units will work by strictly obeying the measures to prevent infection with COVID-19.

Burials will not be staged on June 7. On June 8, the Funerals Office will work according to a shortened program, from 8am until 12 noon. Burials will be organized only at 9am.
