Chisinau municipality allocates 3m lei for free testing of teachers for COVID-19

The Chisinau City Hall will allocate 3 million lei for purchasing COVID-19 tests for the unvaccinated teaching staff and auxiliary personnel of public pre-university education institutions following a decision obliging unvaccinated teachers to present negative test results taken by the extraordinary public health commission of the municipality of Chisinau, IPN reports.

The General Social Assistance and Health Division, in concert with the General Education, Youth and Sport Division and the Chisinau Public Health Center, will work out the mechanism for testing teachers. Mobile teams of doctors will travel to pre-university education institutions to inform education system employees about the benefits of vaccination and to ensure immunization against COVID-19 at the workplace.

The municipal extraordinary public health commission determined that the number of cases of COVID-19 in the capital city increased the last 14 days. The infection rate in Chisinau is 167 cases per 1000,000 people and a red alert will most probably be issued.

According to the Ministry of Education and Research, 69% of the teachers of primary and secondary schools and lyceums in Moldova got vaccinated against COVID-19 with both of the doses, while 72.5% with at least one dose.
