The Health Division of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) intends to extend the network of municipal health institutions over the next five years, in accordance with the strategy for reforming and developing the municipal health system for 2014-2017. The strategy was proposed for public debates and will be submitted to the CMC for approval at the start of October, IPN reports.

In a news conference, Health Division head Mihai Moldovanu said that new health centers will appear in all the districts of Chisinau and in the suburbs – in Dumbrava and Codru towns. Three family doctors centers in Rascani district, which will be transformed into primary health centers, and the Consultative-Diagnostic Center of the same district will enjoy full financial autonomy.

The Municipal Clinical Hospital No. 4 and the Maternity Hospital No. 2 will merge with the Municipal Clinical Hospital “Saint Archangel Mikhail”, where there will be created an andrology center for men. A geriatric and palliative care center will be set up inside the Municipal Clinical Hospital No. 4.

Mihai Moldovanu said the organizational form of the dental medical institutions in the municipality of Chisinau will be changed. They will be transformed into municipal enterprises.

During five years, the municipal medical institutions will be reequipped and fully repaired. A sum of 800 million lei will be invested for the purpose. The Health Division’s budget for next year includes 50 million lei for purchasing medical equipment and another 50 million lei for repair works. A part of the necessary financial resources will be allocated by the National Health Insurance Company and within investment projects.

According to Mihai Moldovanu, there will be about 30 medical institutions in the municipality of Chisinau at the end of 2017.
