Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) refused to examine again on Thursday meeting, 16 March, the item regarding financing of the municipal TV station Euro TV Chisinau for 2006. Last 2 weeks, CMC rejected for the second time the financing plan of the station. The item was excluded of the agenda of the meeting at the proposal of the Communist counsellor Grigore Mara with the vote of the Communist Party (PRCM) and Christian Democratic People’s Party (PPCD). The reason announced was the non-examination of the plan by the specialised commissions. In the same time, other counsellors noted that the documents were examined and the management of the station presented a well adjusted plan, taking into account the objections of CMC of the meeting of 28 February. 2 weeks ago, CMC did not approve the financial plan for of the TV station Euro-TV Chisinau and decided opening of the financing only for half a year of the radio Antena C. the representatives of the factions PCRM and PPCD argued their position by “the care of modernising these institutions” and “for spending of public money”, while the other counsellors appreciated the situation as “trials” and “harassment of municipal press bodies in order to liquidate them, lasting for some years”.
