The municipal councilors on July 6 officially accepted the budget of Chisinau municipality in the final reading, by 44 votes in favor, IPN reports.

The budget provides for incomes of 2.943 billion lei and a total expenditure of about 3.47 billion lei, with a deficit of over 103 million lei.

The authors of the draft budget suggested that the budget deficit should be covered with the financial resources planned to be obtained from the sale of fixed assets and from internal and external sources of financing.

The social costs account for 64.9% of the municipal budget expenditure, an increase of 4.2% on 2015. The main groups of costs include education, culture, healthcare and social protection.

The Chisinau municipal budget for 2016 will take effect when the state budget law is published in the Official Gazette.

The 2016 draft budget of Chisinau municipality was approved in the first reading in December 2015.
