Chisinau motorist shot while driving
A motorist was shot as he drove his car in downtown Chisinau Monday afternoon. Whereas doctors assert the victim is a 32-year-old driver of a share taxi minibus, the police say the accident occurred in a private car.
Dr. Ludmila Untura of the Chisinau Emergency Service has told Info-Prim Neo that an ambulance was called on Monday around 15:30 to the intersection of Stefan cel Mare Blvd and Banulescu-Bodoni Str, where the crew found the minibus driver bleeding out from a gunshot wound to the right lumbar region. The crew gave the man the first aid, after which he was rushed to the Emergency Hospital. Police arrived later to investigate the scene. No other details on the gunshot have been made available by doctors.
At the same time, a spokesperson for the Interior Ministry said the accident actually occurred inside a private car. Allegedly one of the passengers toyed with a pistol and slightly injured another occupant of the car. The Ministry promised to give additional details later today.
A drunk 20-year-old male driver of a motorcycle lost control over the vehicle and ended up in a tree. The victim suffered severe head trauma and was admitted to intensive care at the Emergency Service.
Over the past day and night the Emergency Service recorded 752 calls, responding, among other, to 45 cases of acute viral diseases, 62 cases of trauma, 12 brain strokes, and 5 heart attacks.
