Minister of Foreign Affairs Iurie Leanca and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov will consider a a cooperation plan between Moldova and Russia. At a news conference on October 1, Leanca said that the Transnistrian issue will also be raised at the meeting with Lavrov, Info-Prim Neo reports. The two officials will hold a meeting on the sidelines of the CIS summit that will take place in Chisinau on October 8 and 9. According to the Moldovan minister, though the Transnistrian dispute will be discussed at the OSCE ministerial summit later this year this issue should be tackled earlier so as to try and identify joint approaches. Leanca said that the Transnistrian conflict can be solved as part of a medium or long-term negotiation process, but all those involved should reach a compromise. “As regards the bilateral meetings, which will be held on the sidelines of the summit, they will be not only curtsey meetings. We will discuss acute problems existing in the bilateral relations will every participating state. The new government will launch a political dialogue with these countries. I'm sure that the discussions will be constructive and there will be formulated plans of action designed to contribute to the development of the bilateral relations,” Iurie Leanca said.
