Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca told a press conference today the upcoming period with abnormally low temperatures will most likely affect some municipal activity. He informed the city residents that the heat utility Termocom would work in its highest gear to properly warm up radiators in the apartments, as temperatures are expected to drop below minus 20 degrees Celsius. The mayor warned that the freezing temperatures could affect the pipes and urged the citizens to promptly inform relevant services whenever pipe failures occur. The residents are also asked to contribute with insulating basements and other spaces transited by water and heat pipes. At the same conference, Termocom commercial director Mihai Arusoi assured the utility would generate as much heat as needed and said that there was no reason for concern.
