Chisinau mayor suggests reducing number of commissions on CMC
Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca proposed that the local councilors should merge some of the commissions of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) so that there are five, not seven commissions, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“I put forward such a proposal in order to even up the work in the Council and provide greater attention to the three commissions whose agenda is very tight,” said the mayor.
Thus, each of the factions is to hold the chairmanship of one these commissions – the Urbanistic and Architecture Commission, the Legal Commission, and the Finance Commission. The other four commissions will be merged into two as there are affinities in their work, said Dorin Chirtoaca.
The head of the Liberal group Ion Gabura said the discussions held with the Communist faction on November 2 were rather constructive and helped unlock the situation.
On the other hand, the leader of the Communist faction Boris Golovin said the Communist councilors have never blocked the Council’s work, adding they will analyze the proposal to reduce the number of commissions.
The CMC did not hold meetings so far as the factions could not reach an agreement as to which of them should hold the chairmanship of the standing commissions.
