Chisinau mayor insists on new baccalaureate exam requirements
Chisinau Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca has demanded that by October 1 the managers of educational institutions in Chisinau come up with proposals referring to the 2013 baccalaureate exam, and the municipality to come with a new concept concerning the exam by November 1, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the mayor, the municipality must find a new concept that won’t allow the situation of this year’s summer to repeat. “There are 3 things that I insist on and that must be done. The baccalaureate exam must take place in the institution where the students study, and the surveillance commission must come from a different one.The necessary technical means must be installed in order to jam electrical devices. And last but not least – requirements for admission, meaning that it must be an exam to be admitted to a university”, stated Chirtoaca.
In Dorin Chirtoaca’s opinion, there should be a mixed admission process for universities: based on the average mark on the baccalaureate exam and the admission exam for that particular university. “This rush for high marks is useless in the end, because ultimately things are evaluated differently. We must bring balance to this situation. We must to come with proposals not in April, but in November the latest. This way things will be ready the way they are supposed to be”, added the mayor.
During the 2012 baccalaureate exams, 8 chairmen of the baccalaureate centers have been fired for allowing illegal actions, and they are deprived of the privilege to occupy this position for 5 years, and one of them forever. A baccalaureate center secretary was also fired, and 70 assistants were forbidden to become so again within the next 3-5 years.
