Chisinau mayor demands performing unexpected inspections at markets
The inspections at the Chisinau markets should be carried out unexpectedly, Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca said, addressing the heads of the responsible municipal subdivisions. He stated he does not want the economic entities to be persecuted, but steps should be taken to make sure that the food products sold in the markets are of a high quality, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The unexpected inspections and all the other measures taken should be more visible and have an impact on the quality of the food products sold in the municipality,” Dorin Chirtoaca said in Monday's meeting of City Hall officials.
According to the information provided by the chief sanitary inspector of Chisinau Constantin Ramas, over 1,200 kilograms of products with the shelf life expired have been identified at markets during inspections so far this year.
No irregularities were discovered as regards the quality of the food products supplied to schools and kindergartens, Constantin Ramas said.
Last year, it was established that the children in a number of Chisinau kindergartens were fed on horse meat, not beef as indicated in invoices. In other preschool education institutions, there was served bread made from fodder wheat.
