Chisinau mayor asks for separate negotiations on heat deliveries and heat tariff

Chisinau’s mayor Dorin Chirtoaca says he will not propose the Council (CMC) to examine a higher tariff for the heat in the city. He asks to have separate negotiations for the thermal agent’s deliveries and the tariff, Info-Prim Neo reports. Moldova-Gaz has no right to demand a tariff increase and, if it does not deliver the thermal agent to the population, I shall publicly state its refuse to discuss on increasing the tariff, both Moldova-Gaz and Termocom will be responsible for the consequences, if the population revolts,” Dorin Chirtoaca stated on Monday, November 10, at staff meeting of the City Hall. The mayor conditions the resuming of the discussions on increasing the heat tariff through performing some calculations which “can not be brought in question by anyone”. “People will generally not pay the bills asked by Termocom and Moldova-Gaz (820 lei per Gcal), because they cannot afford it financially,” Dorin Chirtoaca said. Later last week the local administration transferred 36 million lei to SA Termocom for paying the debts to SA Moldova-Gaz. Until now Buiucani and Center districts, and Chisinau suburbs have not been connected to the thermal agent. Hospitals, polyclinics, kindergartens and schools from these sectors remain without heat, although these institutions have no debts for the thermal energy consumption. Until the end of November 10, the City Hall intends to complain to the General Prosecutor’s Office against SA Moldova-Gaz, grounded on the fact that this halts thermal energy distribution in Chisinau, reads a release by the City Hall.
