The tender contests for building the two blocks of flats designed for Transnistrian refugees in Chisinau have been cancelled. According to the Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca, there are reasons to believe that the Minister of Construction and Territorial Development Vladimir Baldovici promotes one of the two firms that reached the final stage of the contests, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The firm could have a connection with him or his relatives and they want to benefit from the loan repaid by the Chisinau City Hall. Probably, he worked for the firm of he or his relatives are the founders of the given company,” Chirtoaca said during the City Hall’s meeting. The mayor said that everything should be fair and no one should act in their interests in the given situation. “The people will again lose patience and will protest. They would not consider who, how and from where. They would like to see the things going on, especially because this project is financed,” the mayor said. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the leader of the Movement of Transnistrian Refugees Anatol Bazgu said that the municipal authorities fulfilled their duties and the Ministry of Construction and Territorial Development is now to choose the company that will build the blocks. “When the authorities only make promises, it is clear that certain goals are being pursued. They promised that the works will start on July 1, but it is September already and they built nothing. We don’t really care who builds the blocks if the project is being carried out,” Bazgu said. The Minister of Construction and Territorial Development could not be found to ask his opinion about the mayor’s assertions. Info-Prim Neo’s reporter was told to call again the next day because the minister is not available. The second day, he was told that the minister is on a trip and that the press service will return to work on Friday. The construction works on the two apartment buildings intended for Transnistrian refugees were stopped this spring. The firm that carried out the works refused to continue work for financial reasons.
