Chisinau is waiting for Tiraspol’s answer
The Chisinau administration made an approach to Tiraspol to find out if there was a letter whereby several economic entities were banned access to the Transnistrian region, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Carpov stated for Info-Prim Neo.
“The existence of such a letter has not been yet confirmed. According to preliminary inquiries, representatives of Moldovan businesses were stopped and encountered problems. But we are waiting for an answer from the Transnistrian partners over the given situation. The existence of a list wasn’t confirmed verbally,” said Eugen Carpov.
Earlier, the press made public a list of Moldovan economic entities that were banned from entering Transnistria. The press reported that the bans were imposed after a group of Moldovan businessmen took part in a forum of businessmen from booty sides of the Nistru River. The forum was organized by the European Business Association (EBA) in Chisinau and Tiraspol several months ago. Those who took part in the even received a letter from the organizers by which they are recommended not to go to the eastern districts of the country.
EBA Moldova program director Mariana Rufa has told Info-Prim Neo that she has no document confirming the ban. “There were certain problems, but those persons who wanted to pass were allowed to pass and there is no confirmation that they were declared persona non grata. There was an internal letter recommending not traveling to the Transnistrian region until things are clarified,” she stated, adding the press reports shocked her, but the problem will be soon elucidated. .
