Chisinau is now living a period of development, of growth and blossom; it is living its youth, stated Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca in his address to Chisinau's residents at the launch ceremony of City Day celebrations, which took place in the Great Assembly Square. The event was attended by foreign local officials invited to Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. “I wish this youth and vigor of Chisinau to reflect on everyone and everyone should make his own contribution to have better and finer results. We should not leave this city, but work hard together so that things could continue changing for the better, so that our children could enjoy a better living”, stated Chirtoaca in his address. Bucharest Mayor Sorin Oprescu stated that in Chisinau he was feeling at home. “Let us warmly salute you and tell you that we love you, we respect you, and that now, when perhaps everybody is having difficult times, you have a close friend that will support you in your ambition to develop and improve your lives”. Besides celebrations, Tbilisi Mayor Giorgi Ugulava came to Chisinau to sign a twinning agreement between the two capitals. He noted that Tbilisi and Chisinau had many things in common, a statement which he said was also true of our countries. “We have both embraced the European integration path and European values. This is what unites us and this is what makes us proud”. At the same ceremony, Paul Florea, the prefect of the Romanian county of Galati, also congratulated the people of Chisinau: “I am honored to be here today to live together with you these special moments for Chisinau. I am here to deliver a message to you on behalf of the people of Galati and of myself, a message of friendship and brotherliness, and wishes of prosperity, solid health, and success on the European integration path, a message which is meant to bring you and us closer together, for we have the same ideals”. On October 14, Chisinau marked its 575th anniversary.
