Chisinau independent paper could not reach its readers
Friday’s issue of Jurnal de Chisinau newspaper has been unavailable today in most of the newsstands across the country and didn’t reach many of its readers either.
Val Butnaru, the director of the publication, told Info-Prim Neo that the issue was sent to the printing house in good time, at a quarter until six on Thursday evening.
Butnaru believes the reason behind the fact that the paper didn’t reach its readers was an interview with the former members of the Christian-Democrat Party, Ion Neagu and Sergiu Burca, who made “sensational disclosures” into the kidnapping of MP Vlad Cubreacov five years ago.
“As far as I know, the issue was printed much later than supposed”, Val Butnatu said.
Jurnal de Chisinau’s site informs that the paper is printed by Prag 3, a company in which the majority stockholder is the Christian-Democrat leader Iurie Rosca.
Prag 3 director Viorel Buzdugan disclaimed any responsibility for the incident. “The paper reached in time the distributors – Posta Moldovei and Moldpresa. Today, as usual, at four in the morning at latest, the distributors had the print-run in hand”, the cited source told Info-Prim Neo.
Maia Hohlov, Moldpresa’s senior manger, explained that the contract with the printing company stipulates that the papers which fail to reach Moldpresa’s depots by 3:30 AM are left to be distributed the next morning. “We cannot delay the delivery of the other 27,000 copies because of Jurnal de Chisinau alone and thereby cause losses to other papers”, Hohlov said.
Jurnal de Chisinau will be available in newsstands tomorrow. The paper is yet to estimate its financial loss.
