The first recently launched Traffic Monitoring Center in Chisinau will enable better organization of traffic and, consequently, faster intervention in emergency cases. Eugeniu Cepoi, an expert in the design and coordination of geographic information systems, said that new traffic solutions that will make life easier for both drivers and pedestrians will be identified, IPN reports.
The center was developed with the financial support of the European Union, through the project "MOVE IT like Lublin" – an initiative for the sustainable development of public transport in the municipality of Chisinau.
The center will collect GPS data from cars and public transport, sensor data, transport flow data, as well as reports from citizens. This data will be aggregated and used in new models for generating traffic solutions and will allow citizens to be much better informed, the expert said in an informative spot.
The data will be collected from public transport equipment, road cameras, radars, parking sensors and other relevant systems.
At the inauguration of the center on November 15, mayor general Ion Ceban said that it is important for the municipality of Chisinau to become that example of a city where all things can be found 15 minutes away from home, and the urban infrastructure allows it.
