For the Moldovan authorities, the complete implementation of the Association Agreement is the top priority on the path of European integration, Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu stated in the opening of the fourth meeting of the EU – Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee that is held in Chisinau, IPN reports.

Andrian Candu reminded that a plan of action for implementing the Association Agreement was approved for 2017. “We are sure that by the end of this year, we will fully implement the plan of action during the two sessions of Parliament. The financial-banking system, justice sector reform, fight against corruption, integrity, business environment and energy sector remain priorities for us,” said the Speaker.

Mihai Ghimpu, co-chairman of the EU – Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee, said the parliamentary alliance is determined to firmly promote the Association Agreement. The advancement on the path of European integration remains the key objective of Moldova’s Parliament. “The European integration remains the most viable solution for the Republic of Moldova. It brings palpable and valuable benefits,” stated the MP.

MEP Andi Cristea, co-chairman of the EU – Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee, said the European Parliament recognizes the efforts made by the Government of Moldova to do the undertaken reforms. “We would like to see additional effort in such essential areas as justice, fight against corruption, the mass media and business sector. As to the change in the electoral system, which is a topical subject now here, in Chisinau, I think the political decision that is to be made should take into account the comments of the Venice Commission,” said the MEP.

The EU – Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee meets two times a year in Brussels and in Chisinau. The agenda of the fourth meeting that is held in Chisinau on May 22 includes subjects related to the reforms in justice, corruption fighting, public administration, electoral system and freedom of the media.
