Chisinau hosts Festival of Embroidered Peasant Blouses

The third Festival of Embroidered Peasant Blouses is taking place in Chisinau. The event includes a handicrafts fair, a presentation of collections of embroidered peasant blouses of the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History, and performances by Moldovan folk ensembles. There will be also presented a collection of embroidered peasant blouses of the Folk Costumes House “Casa Cristea’’, made by Maria Cristea.

Head of the press service of the Ministry of Culture Ala Paslariuc has told IPN that there will be held a number of charity events and the proceeds will be given to a group of children of a boarding school, for whom national costumes will be made. The boarding school will be chosen later.

The embroidered peasant blouse worn by Moldova-1 channel presenter Olivia Furtuna when announcing the results of the televoting for Eurovision Song Contest 2014 will be auctioned off. Charity lotteries will be held every hour.

The children will take part in a contest entitled “Throwing of the hat”, which is a game played in the times of Stephan the Great, will color ornaments on paper and will make flower wreaths. There will be exhibited works by craftsmen, staged masterclasses and presented recipes for dishes made on Pentecost.

The festival is held at the agri-tourist pension “Curtea Mosului” located at 38 Nicolae Milescu-Spataru St in Ciocana district of Chisinau. It is organized under the aegis of First Lady Margareta Timofti.
