A cultural performance was held in Chisinau on the occasion of the New Chinese Year, known as the Spring Festival. The event started with the Moldovan folk round dance presented by teachers and students of the Confucius Institute of the Free International University of Moldova (ULIM). Moldovan students were awarded for active involvement in learning the Chinese language and culture and for remarkable accomplishments in 2022, IPN reports.
“All those who are present here today are witnesses and promoters of the friendly relations and exchanges between China and Moldova. I hope all Moldova’s friends who love the Chinese language and culture will continue to better study the language and will become friendship ambassadors between our countries, who will contribute to promoting bilateral exchanges and cooperation and to developing the traditional Chinese-Moldovan friendship. The Embassy of China in Moldova will offer all the possible support and will create more opportunities for promoting interhuman exchanges between our countries,” Wang Lvxin, Charge d’Affaires ad-interim of the Embassy of China in Chisinau, stated in the event.
Wang Lvxin noted that Moldova and China are good friends and reliable partners. Over the past 31 years since the bilateral diplomatic relations were established, the countries strengthened the mutual political support and extended cooperation in different areas. Since its founding at ULIM in 2009, the Confucius Institute trained over 100,000 Moldovan students who love the Chinese language and culture and became a bridge for promoting understanding and friendship between the two nations, this being an important accomplishment of the bilateral interhuman exchanges and cooperation.
Valentina Chumachenko, pro-rector for International Relations of ULIM, said the concert devoted to the Spring Festival, which was organized after a three-year pause, is an occasion for exhibiting the good relations of friendship and cooperation established together with the founding of the Confucius Institute at ULIM, which was recognized by the senior Chinese authorities and was offered the excellence award. All these merits are due to the Confucius Institute’s team led by director Wang Yifeng.
“Our institution has nicely cooperated with leading institutions of Chinua for over a decade and we are glad to see such a constant pace in development. We reiterate our commitment to further develop these relations based on academic cohesion and dialogue,” stated Valentina Chumachenko.
The history of the Spring Festival in China is about 4,000 years long. The activities staged in the period are designed to bring luck and prosperity.
