Chisinau examines current issues in dialogue with Tiraspol

Among the current issues that require particular attention in the dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol are ensuring respect for human rights, removing obstacles to free movement, continuous access of farmers to agricultural land in Dubasari district, improving the situation of Romanian-language schools, implementation of measures to combat COVID-19 and others, reads a press release published after a consultative meeting with the coordinators of the sectoral working groups that was convened by Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian.

The meeting focused on setting priority directions for the sectoral groups in 2022. Oleg Serebrian asked the coordinators to evaluate the work done in their respective groups, draw up action plans for boosting their work, make proposal to improve the regulatory framework, and identify together with Tiraspol’s representatives the best timing for relaunching joint meetings.

The working groups set up by Chisinau and Tiraspol are technical platforms for interaction between sectoral experts, coordinated by political representatives and aimed at identifying and proposing viable solutions to current problems. At present, there are 11 sectoral groups and 3 sub-groups.

On January 27, Oleg Serebrian and Tiraspol’s chief negotiator Vitali Ignatiev agreed on the need to resume work in all sectoral groups.
