Law enforcement officers on Friday carried out searches at the Chisinau Electric Transport Company in a case of procurement fraud that involves the deputy director and chief accountant of the company, IPN reports.

The National Anticorruption Center said the officers raided the offices of the officials and their homes, as well as offices of representatives of companies that benefitted from tender contests that were allegedly rigged.

It was established that public servants of the Chisinau Electric Transport Company, by prior agreement with economic agents designated winners of procurement contracts, committed a number of abuses in the process of executing the contracted works.

The deputy director and chief accountant of the company are to be classed as suspects.

In a press release, the Chisinau Electric Transport Company said that they continue providing passenger transportation services in conditions of maximum comfort and safety.
