The first eight candidates for the post of mayor general of Chisinau municipality have been registered by the Chisinau District Electoral Council. The Council’s deputy head Sergiu Matu has told IPN that the decision concerning the registration of the last of the eight candidates was taken today, May 6.

The following candidates have been registered so far: Vasile Chirtoca, of the Party of Communists; Zinaida Grecheanyi, of the Party of Socialists; Ilian Casu; of “Our” Party, Oazu Nantoi, of the Electoral Bloc “European People’s Platform of Moldova-Iurie Leanca”; Timotei Turcanu, of the National Liberal Party; Serafim Urechean, of the Liberal Democratic Party; Mihai Carlig, of the People’s Party, and Valerii Climenco, of the Sociopolitical Movement “Ravnopravie”.

There were also registered the candidates for the posts of Chisinau councilor fielded by the PCRM, PL, PNL, PSRM, and PLDM.

The local general elections will take place on June 14. The documents required for registration can be submitted by May 14.
