Preschool institutions and schools in Chisinau are ready to welcome children on September 3. Current repair works in schools were finished, with the exception of those from Chisinau, which started late due to the tardy approval of the municipal budget. Authorities assure that the repair works will not affect the educational process, reports Info-Prim Neo. Chisinau Education Department counselor Tatiana Botnaru stated on Monday, August 6, at the City Hall meeting that the preparation of educational institutions for the new academic year was almost complete. One persistent issue is the reparation of roofs that were destroyed during the heavy rains in May and July. 65 roofs have been destroyed during that period. Meanwhile, repairs in Chisinau that were planned and financed by the municipal budget are progressing. They will continue during early September, but will not affect the education process. The authorities say that the timely completion of the works in the capital was not possible, because their start was delayed by the late approval of the budget. Tatiana Botnaru added that this year’s annual conference of education staff will take place on August 24. During the conference several specialized workshops will be opened, which will discuss the main issues of the municipal education system. The official opening ceremonies for the beginning of the new academic year will take place on Monday, September 3.
