A number of streets in central Chisinau will be closed to motor vehicles Friday from 10AM to 8PM to mark the European Mobility Week, the municipal Directorate for Urban Mobility announced.
A series of activities will be offered to those willing to experience “a city free of vehicular traffic”, the Directorate promised.
The closed segments include 31 August 1989, between the streets Pushkin and Alecsandri; and Vlaicu Pârcălab Street, between București Street and Ștefan cel Mare Boulevard.
Visitors will be able to participate in a raffle, where they will have the chance to win monthly public transport passes. The municipal authorities also said that scooters and bicycles will be available to be actively explored. At the same time, asphalt drawing contests, interactive road safety lessons, tourist trolleybus excursions and trolleybus driving demonstrations will be organized. Prizes and ice cream await the fastest competitors. There will also be a tent where information will be provided about municipal urban mobility and sustainable development projects.
“We invite the public to participate in this day dedicated to a cleaner and greener public space. It explores mobility alternatives and contributes to a more environmentally friendly city”, said the Directorate.
