“Dear friends! Kiev has fallen. We do not have the right! I make a call for cohesion and solidarity. We should unite around the Government and Parliament of Moldova, which must accomplish their mission of bringing the country close to the EU. We today do not need a pact with one party or another. We need a pact of the people! We will cross the bridge and will then see,” the ex-Premier says in his message.
One week before the Vilnius Eastern Partnership Summit, the Government of Ukraine decided to suspend the preparations for signing the Association Agreement with the European Union. Prime Minister Nicolai Azarov said the decision is a tactical one, based on the economic situation of Ukraine. The Supreme Rada also failed to adopt the package of laws compliant with the EU norms, which are required for the association with the EU.
A number of states and EU officials expressed their regret at the decision of the Ukrainian Government.
