Parliament voted in the final reading a bill that equals the salaries of heads of the districts of Chisinau municipality to the salaries of deputy heads of raions with a population of over 100,000 inhabitants, IPN reports.

The salary will be equal to 7,700 lei. The pay of Chisinau district deputy heads will represent 90% of the district head’s salary.

When the Law on the Status of Chisinau Municipality took effect, the mayor general of the capital city obtained the right to form his own staff with the same status as the staffs of persons with high-ranking public posts. Thus, the posts of Chisinau district head and deputy head were added to the category of high-ranking public posts. Earlier these were public functionaries.
