Chisinau demands restoring normal work regime of Joint Control Commission

There is no consensus about the Moldovan delegation's proposals to allow the free movement of people over the Nistru River submitted within the Joint Control Commission (JCC). Owing to disagreements in the last ordinary meeting of the Commission, the discussions were interrupted. Last week, the delegation of Tiraspol didn't even come to the meeting. The constitutional authorities noted that since June 26, the delegations to the JCC could not reach a consensus to approve the agenda and to hold the ordinary meetings, IPN reports.

According to a communique of the Reintegration Office, in the August 7 meeting of the Commission, Moldova's delegation reiterated its concern about the increasing number of cases of violation of the regulations concerning the security area and of unauthorized extension of the infrastructure of the Transnistrian militia posts at the entrance to Bender town, as well as of blocking the free movement of people and transport. The Moldovan side is also dissatisfied with the introduction of registraton for citizens who enter Transnistria.

So, the Moldovan delegation asked including its proposals concerning the free movement in the agenda. The delegation of Tiraspol categorically rejected the proposals of Chisunau, without presenting plausible arguments and solutions for overcoming the identified problems. The Moldovan delegation said this fact hampers the efficient fulfillment of the duties of the JCC such as the monitoring of the situation and ensuring of stability in the Security Zone.

As there was no consensus, the co-chairman on behalf of Russia, who chaired the meeting, suspended the discussions until the next meeting that will take place in Bender on August 14.
