The councilors of Chisinau municipality return to work on September 5. They have more expectations of the next meetings of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) and hope that they will take place in a constructive atmosphere.
Contacted by IPN, Liberal councilor Iurie Topala said they expect that the 2014 municipal budget will be drafted and adopted in the first reading. “We want to work better than now. We went on vacation amid problems deriving from the proposal to give a vote of no confidence to the secretary of the Chisinau Municipal Council Valeriu Didencu. The proposal was submitted by the Communist councilor Valentin Todercan, without explaining it somehow,” he stated. He added that the CMC secretary is dismissed when there are serious reasons, but no such reasons were presented.
The leader of the Communist faction Boris Golovin said the members of the faction have expectations related to the solving of the problems of the Chisinau residents and the improvement of the living conditions. “We want to bring things in order in the city. We will not allow raising the public transport fares and the closing of schools in the municipality of Chisinau,” he stated.
The head of the Liberal-Democratic faction Gennady Dumanschi said he has expected the institutional reform to be launched for two years. “It is a reform on which foreign experts worked. It was financed by the UNDP. But this reform, which we consider very good, is gathering dust in the drawers of the Chisinau City Hall,” said the Lib-Dem. Before the September 5 meeting, the Liberal-Democratic faction will hold a news conference centering on the situation in the Council.
The CMC meeting was interrupted on July 25 after the municipal councilors examined the main items of the agenda and there remained the 87 issues introduced additionally. These issues are to be discussed in the September 5 meeting.
