Chisinau councilors have different opinions on situation in CMC

The meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) opened on June 11 was postponed on Tuesday for the twelfth time, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The Council cannot work, but not due to the political crisis in the country,” said Alexandru Corduneanu, leader of the faction of the PPCD and chair of the meeting. “The CMC in its current composition is unable to promote concrete reforms and find solutions to the problems faced by the capital city.” “We insist on having a discussion with the faction leaders. We will not permit that somebody gains political dividends on the last one hundred meters of the electoral campaign,” said Ion Ciobanu, leader of the PL faction. “The problem of personnel can be considered after elections,” he said, referring to the post of the Division Health head. “We now must approve the financing for the Health, Culture and Children’s Rights Protection Divisions and the amounts needed to repair the medical institutions, arts schools and centers for minors.” Oleg Cernei, of the AMN faction, said that he backs the idea of suspending the work of the CMC until the July 29 legislative elections, formulated earlier by a number of councilors. “The Council’s meetings should be suspended in the height of the electoral campaign. The issues on the agenda have an electoral character and I see no reason for participating in these shows staged by the PPCD, PCRM and UCM,” Oleg Cernei said “We must work, not show our political ambitions,” said Reghina Apostolova, of the faction of the PCRM. “We demand that all the councilors that have at least some respect for the voters work consciously.”
