Chisinau councilors give vote of no confidence to acting secretary of CMC

The municipal councilors gave a vote of no confidence to the acting secretary of the Chisinau Municipal Council Alexandra Motpan, who is temporarily replacing Valeriu Didencu. The proposal was put forward by the councilors of the European People’s Party of Moldova (PPEM), who consider that the secretary didn’t appropriately fulfill her duties. The proposal was adopted unanimously by the attending councilors. The Liberals were absent, IPN reports.

According to the councilors of the PPEM, Alexandra Motpan obstructed and stopped the Council’s work by groundlessly and abusively refusing to sign the decisions adopted by the CMC and by her unjustified refusal to transmit the decisions to the Local Office of the State Chancellery.

“The group of the PPEM ascertains that the mayor of Chisinau continues to block the work of the Chisinau Municipal Council and this is evident including by the secretary’s refusal to sign our decisions,” said the group’s leader Oazu Nantoi.

For her part, Alexandra Motpan said she maintains her position and will not countersign the decisions and considers that her actions are legal. Afterward, she left the meeting hall.

In the same meeting, the councilors proposed that the post of CMC secretary should be held on an interim basis by the head of the PR Relations Division of the Chisinau City Hall Vadim Branzaniuc.  According to the taken decision, this will fulfill the duties of the CMC secretary Valeriu Didencu until the latter returns from sick leave.
