Chisinau Council unfreezes financing of capital investments
The Chisinau Municipal Council voted on July 7 to unfreeze the financing of capital investments that it had rejected several times. It voted for the municipal budget in February, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Communists (PCRM) councilors wanted modifications in the basic project, asking to decrease the expenses for the reparation of the city hall's building and utilities and to give that money for two high schools and a water pipe in Vadul lui Voda town.
PLDM councilor Galina Talai has asked that similar money transfers should be made for the municipal sports high school. “Those children have no stadium, they rent training fields, the area meant for the stadium turned into a garbage dump, because we don't allocate money for reconstruction,” Talai said.
AMN councilor Oleg Cernei pleaded against the PCRM's proposal. “There are more high schools needing reconstruction and it's not fair to help only some of them. Besides, the city hall's utilities have not been repaired for 100 years and the winter is coming,” Cernei said, specifying the AMN would not vote for the PCRM's proposal.
Also Oleg Oniscenco's ideas to pay for the repair works of Kotiubinski high school were rejected.
With 26 votes, the capital investments annex and the PCRM's requirements were voted.
According to mayor Nistor Grozavu, who replaces the general mayor during the electoral race, the documents provide for investments of 71 million lei. Parts of that money will be alloted to end water pipe grids in suburbs, to erect the monument to the Soviet-era deportees, to repair schools in Gratiesti, Durlesti, Cruzesti, etc.
