The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) on Thursday gave its consent to add about 560,000 lei to the bill for the City Day. 410,000 lei are supposed to be spent on hosting the foreign delegations that will visit Chisinau for the holiday. Of the 73 persons invited form 33 twinned and partner cities of Chisinau, 55 persons accepted the invitation. This year, the municipality will spend two times less money on hosting foreign delegation than it used last year. The funds will go to cover accommodation, meals, official receptions, souvenirs, and translation services. 60,000 lei from the city coffers will be spent on fireworks in the Great National Assembly Square. The City Council also apportioned extra 30,000 lei to each of the five district offices in Chisinau to organise the cultural and artistic manifestations on the stages that will be located in downtown and in each district. Last year, the district offices got 50,000 lei each for the same purpose. 350,000 lei earmarked previously for the City Day will be used to stage the festive show in the evening of October 14. In addition, the district offices will be free to use the unspent funds left over from last year and the available resources out of the 100,000 lei earmarked for organising holidays throughout the year. This year the city of Chisinau will celebrate its 571st anniversary of foundation.
