Chisinau Council forms commission to examine lawfulness of Antena C and Euro TV privatization

A special commission was formed by the Chisinau City Council (CMC) on Friday to investigate whether the municipal enterprises Antena C Radio and Euro TV were lawfully privatized and whether the new owners observe the contractual obligations, Info-Prim Neo reports. The idea of setting up the commission was put forward at a previous CMC meeting by the leader of the Liberal Democratic faction Alexandru Tanase. He claimed that, while the buyers committed themselves to invest in the stations and report to the Council any requested information on how and which investments were made, the owners failed to present any report. Councilor Tanase, a lawyer by profession, was appointed to chair the commission. He said the main goal of the commission would be to investigate whether the buyers acted in good faith.
