Chisinau Council distributes all apartments in residential block destined for Transnistrian refugees

The Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) on Thursday, February 21, decided by unanimous vote to distribute 45 apartments to Transnistrian refugees in a residential block on 11/3 Ginta Latina Street, Info-Prim Neo reports. There were also distributed 11 one-roomed apartments which had been vacated by the refugees that got apartments in the block on Ginta Latina. Earlier, the City Council awarded the refugees a total of 45 apartments in three different blocks. Councillor Oleg Cernei of the Moldova Noastra Alliance faction told Info-Prim Neo that apartments were given to all those who obtained the right to receive housing from the municipality by court order. On January 31, about 100 internally displaced people from the eastern districts of Moldova blocked the meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council, accusing the capital city’s administration of delaying the distribution of apartments in the building intended for them. The city officials promised then that the distribution of apartments to the Transnistrian refugees would move faster. Seven apartments intended for Transnistrian refugees are vacant at present, most of them being subject of litigation. The rest of the refugee families will receive apartments as soon as the next residential block destined for them is built.
