The Public Amenities Division during two months will be able to take vegetal and construction waste to the limestone quarry of SA “Edilitate” located at 36 Calea Ieșilor St. A decision to this effect was approved by the municipal Commission for Exceptional Situations, IPN reports.
“We have a state of emergency as regards the storing of construction waste and garbage collected as a result of works to clean the city. Waste gathered yesterday and today after the Environment Agency blocked access to the platform situated on Calea Ieșilor St. We speak about branches, waste collected as a result of the cleanup of cemeteries and waste accumulated after the recent demolition of constructions,” said mayor Ion Ceban.
According to the mayor, in today’s meeting the Commission familiarized itself with the situation concerning the blocking of the waste collection process. Representatives of the Ministry of Environment were called out, but these refused to take part. “We declared a state of emergency following multiple requests, approaches and steps, especially the past year, so as to find a new site for storing building and cleanup waste. It is regrettable that the current government that is incompetent and impotent continues to place hindrances to us. Over 40% of the population of the Republic of Moldova lives in Chisinau and the situation is really outrageous,” stated the mayor.
He noted that the former limestone quarry is an alternative for the storage of this waste given that the lot allotted to the Public Amenities Division for setting up a place for storing construction and demolition waste can no longer be used. “We collectively undertook to temporarily store waste at the site on Calea Ieșilor St. Meanwhile, we continue to insist on the registration of the documents on which we have worked the past year. The information will be urgently presented at today’s meeting of the Chisinau Municipal Council. We insist that the decision should be examined immediately by the Government and the responsible central institutions. We ask the National Commission for Exceptional Situations to urgently examine this subject and the decision of the Chisinau Commission for Exceptional Situations,” stated the mayor.
According to Ion Ceban, the Environment Agency blocked the transportation of building and cleanup waste to the platform on Calea Ieșilor St. Inspectors came and barred access to the platform used by SA “Edilitate”, to which this waste is taken.
