The municipal authorities plan to build a parking place in the Parliament’s garage, on three of the five stories of the garage. The municipality is also looking for other addresses and for eventual partnerships for putting up parking places, starting with the central zone, mayor of Chisinau Ion Ceban stated when presenting a report on 100 days of work since taking over, IPN reports.

According to the mayor, there are private investors that could become involved in the construction of parking places. It is estimated that the parking garages will have a capacity of 700-1,000 places. Depending on the financial instrument identified by the municipality, it will be decided if the parking lots will be for money or not.

The local authorities are also looking for a sum of 70 million lei that is needed to build parking places by the roadside on secondary streets. About 10,000 parking places will be needed in the central part of the city. To begin with, there will be made available 4,000 places.

Ion Ceban also said that a project will be soon initiated to set up dedicated lanes for public transport on the main streets of the city, such as Pushkin, Bodoni and Stephan the Great and Holy.
