Chisinau City Hall urges volunteers to engage in cleaning works

“The cleaning in Chisinau must become a norm for the divisions of the City Hall, the companies and the population,” Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca said at Monday's meeting of the municipal services and divisions. He stressed that the sanitation in the capital city must be a continuous action, not a campaign that is held on separate occasions, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Special attention must be paid to the parks and other green areas. Every person should bear responsibility for the place where they rest and not litter it,” the mayor said. The police will carry out raids daily and will penalize the persons who drop litter. The City Hall and several radio and TV stations will launch a project to encourage the volunteers to get involved in cleaning works. The head of Centru district Vladimir Sarban said there will be set up five playgrounds. “Tender contests will be announced to select the companies that will invest money in these projects,” Sarban said. Flowers will start to be planted in Chisinau this week and the planting of trees will go on. According to the head of the Green Areas Association Eliferie Haruta, 6,167 trees had been planted on Saturday, April 17. There were cleaned five hectares of green areas and collected 38 vehicles of garbage.
